Tourist Tax – Oporto- 2018
21Starting from March 2018, there will be a new tourist tax applied to all visitors coming to Oporto. The tourist tax will be in the amount of 2 euros per night and is aimed at maintaining infrastructure and buildings in the historical/tourist center. The tax is applied until a maximum of 7 straight nights per person, meaning that longer stays are excluded. Health tourism and youngsters under the age of 13 do not pay tourist tax as well.
The tax is heavier in comparison to other cities, namely Lisbon, however it will be included in final prices paid by tourists and should not mean a very significant increase in total expenditure, at least for some apartments or hotels. It will all depend on how the new prices will be set after March 2018.
