Emirates new route – Oporto – Dubai

The airline company Emirates announced today that there will be a new route connecting Oporto and Dubai starting the 2nd July 2019. There will be four weekly flights between these two destinations, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays with the following departure and arrival times:

  • Departure from Dubai at 9h15 and arrival at Oporto at 14h30
  • Departure from Oporto at 17h35 and arrival at Dubai at 4h15

Emirates will use the Boeing 777-300ER to operate flights between these two cities. These planes are able to offer eight private suites, 42 places in executive class and 310 in economy class, having also the additional capacity to carry 18 tonnes of cargo.

This is definitely good news for Oporto, as it keeps strenghtening its position as a relevant worldwide destination…

6 new destinations from Oporto – Ryanair 2019

The Irish low-cost airline company, Ryanair, has announced 6 new destinations from Oporto airport in summer 2019. The new airports that will have a direct connection from Oporto are: Seville, Alicante, Brive, Cagliari, Marrakech and Venice (Treviso). According to the CEO of Ryanair, Michael O´Leary, this expansion is part of the 100 million euros investment that Ryanair intends to do in Portugal during 2019 and that involves also, 3 new destinations for Lisbon and 3 for Faro.

In total, there are now 57 routes being operated by Ryanair from Oporto airport and some of those have been reinforced quite recently.

Overall, these are goods news for Oporto, as the city becomes closer to other important tourist destinations, increasing its attractiveness!!!

The New York Times considers Oporto as an example of one of the safest destinations for American tourists in the world, displaying a photo of the city in one of its main articles.

Based on information from the US Administration, the New York Times reports the fact that Portugal is one of the safest countries in the world, being considered as risk level 1, due to low crime rate, low propensity for terrorist attacks, low social upheaval and low health hazards. These are clear advantages that make Oporto and Portugal stand out as attractive destinations!!
