Air Europa boosts Madrid-Oporto flights

The Air Europa carrier, that belongs to the Globalia group, is going to increase the number of seats available for passengers that want to travel from Madrid to Oporto and vice-versa. From the 30th October, this company is going to have a new plane flying between these two cities. The new plane is an Embraer 190 with capacity for 120 passengers, clearly more than the 70 that are being carried these days by the ATR 72. Air Europa will keep having two daily flights between Oporto and Madrid.

Overall, these are good news for Spanish tourists that want to visit Oporto!! With more capacity, it becomes easier to find more tickets and also cheaper prices!! Hope to see you soon at the Oporto Sunset Blue Balcony flat!!

Air Canada flies to Oporto

Air Canada announced that will soon have direct flights between Toronto and Oporto starting from the 8th June 2018. According to agency Presstur, there will be four flights a weeks (on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays) and the plane of choice to cross the Atlantic will be the Boeing B767.

Additionally, Air Canada is also planning to establish direct connections to Lisbon and other european cities during summer 2018!!

This is definitely great news for Canadian tourists that want to visit Oporto, as they are now much closer than before!!!

Bea World Festival 2017 – Oporto

More than 500 people representing the event industry will gather in Oporto between the 15th and 18th of November to celebrate another edition of the Bea World Festival. After 11 editions focused in Europe, the 2017 event will have a global reach with projects from various continents competing for the BEA!!

This is a huge opportunity for Portuguese companies in the event industry and it is also a way to promote Oporto abroad. There will be several initiatives taking place during the BEA event to make sure that participants get to know what Oporto has to offer!! Douro Bike Tour

There is going to be a bike tour on the 22nd October 2017 organized by the Portuguese Cycling Federation. This initiative will take place in the Douro area and will involve going through some of the most interesting landscapes around Oporto. The tour will start and finish in Oporto. Only two wheeled vehicles can participate in this tour that starts at 9h00 in Gustavo Eiffel avenue, close to Infante bridge.

There are two types of tours (67 km and 133 km) and interested people can register until 24h00 on the 20th October.

Clearly, a good opportunity to do some sports and to know other lovely places outside, but still close to Oporto.

Every Sunday, the Passeio Alegre garden will host an event that brings together craftmanship, gastronomy and music.

This local initiative promotes the work of craftmen and local salesmen. Between 10h00 and 18h00 on Sunday, the Passeio Alegre garden will have 50 tents with jewelry, fashion, decoration items, drinks, food and much more.

During the event, there will be always music coming from Coreto Alegre. Between 16h00 and 19h00, an invited DJ will be playing a specific track selection.

Once it is an outdoors event, the Happiness Market will be totally dependent on weather conditions!!

The “World of Steve McCurry” at Oporto

The “World of Steve McCurry” photo exhibit is going to be in Oporto until the end of the year. This exhibition includes 200 photos of the famous american photographer and covers different national scenarios: Cuba, India, Brazil, Italy and USA. Among some of the pictures displayed in the exhibit, there are famous shots alongside with some unpublished work, namely from his first report in Afghanistan.

Steve McCurry has won several international prizes, one as Magazine Photographer of the Year and two World Press Photos, besides several other special awards. Most of his work has been reports scenarios of war, violence or natural disasters.

Once again, Oporto innovates by hosting the biggest electric and hybrid car show in the world. This event will take place between the 13th and 15th October 2017 in the “Alfândega do Porto” building, in Ribeira. For those interested, the show starts at 10h00 and closes at 22h00 on Saturday and 20h00 on Sunday. 12 brands and 40 models will be presented in this show.
