The 24 best national beatboxers will gather in Oporto for another championship. The event will take place on the 14th July 2018 in the Silo Auto parking and will start at 14h00. Entrance is free and this championship will help select the best beatboxer to represent Portugal in the 5th World Championship Battle that will take place in Berlin on the 3rd August.

The Championship will also include Graffiti, MC and beatboxing demos.

Meo Marés Vivas 2018 Festival

The Meo Marés Vivas 2018 Festival will take place in Vila Nova de Gaia (just across the river from Oporto) between the 20th and 22nd July 2018. This is the 12th edition of the festival and this year several big names will be playing live in 5 different stages. Among some of the artists featured in this event, we can find names like Jamoriquai, Goo Goo Dolls, Richie Campbell, Manel Cruz, Kodaline, David Guetta, Carolina Deslandes and The Black Mamba.

The event will take place in the “Antiga Seca do Bacalhau” and the pricing is the following:

  • 35 euros – one day ticket
  • 65 euros – all included ticket

Vinho Verde Wine Fest Oporto

The Vinho Verde Wine Festival will take place in Oporto between the 12th and the 15th July 2018. This is a fundamental event to promote one of the most typical products of the North of Portugal and will include, not only wine tasting, but also show cooking, exhibitions, cultural activities and much more. The Alfândega building will host this event. All major Vinho Verde producers are expected to participate with expectations pointing at more than 120 commented wine tasting activities and 70 show cooking experiences.

Doors open at 17h00 and close at 24h00, on the 12th and 13th. On the 14th, doors open at 12h00 and close at 24h00. Finally, on the 15th, doors open at 12h00 and close at 19h00...

Oporto Food Fest – Continente

The Oporto Food Festival sponsored by the supermarket chain Continente will take place in the City Park between the 7th and the 8th July 2018. This fest is free and anyone can participate in the several activities available. It is a family oriented festival that attempts to promote sports and healthy eating.

There will be plenty of show cookings performed by several renowned chefs (mostly portuguese), such as: Hélio Loureiro, Manuel Almeida, Justa Nobre, Rui Paula, Chakall and Anna Lins. There will also be plenty of concerts with Portuguese bands and singers, such as: Tony Carreira, Diogo Piçarra, David Carreira, Xutos & Pontapés, HMB and Mundo de Sara. Additionally, there will also be a small football village with 10 football fields, sponsored by the Portuguese Football Federation.

Dão Invicto – Wine tasting – Oporto

Several wines from more than 20 renowned producers of the Dão area in the center of Portugal will be available for tasting in Oporto during this weekend. The wine tasting event called Dão Invicto will take place between the 29th and 30th June in Alfândega do Porto. Doors open at 15h00 and close at 21h00 in the two days of the event. As this is a joint event between the Dão area and Maserati, there will also be a Maserati exhibition!!

If you happen to be around for this weekend, then this is an opportunity you cannot miss!! The full wine tasting experience is free and the only thing you have to pay for is a glass that costs 2 euros. From there on, it is up to you how much you want to drink 🙂 🙂 🙂

The latest statistics published by Presstur show that the Oporto airport reached more than 2 million travellers in the period between January and May 2018. More precisely, we are roughly talking of 2 million 400 thousand travellers, representing an increase of 12.3%, when compared to the same period last year.

Saint John’s Fireworks Show

The tradition becomes more and more intense!!! This year, the typical Saint John’s fireworks show is schedule to last more than 19 minutes.

Considered as one of the most relevant features of the Saint John’s party at Oporto, the fireworks show will take place on the first minute of the 24th June 2018. The show will happen in the middle of River Douro, downstream from bridge Dom Luís I in a total span of 600 metres. The show will feature 53 750 different blasts with an average of 2 756 blasts per minute. To provide a better ambiance for the show, there will also be a selection of 8 different music tracks.

Overall, this is an awesome part of Saint John’s festivities...

Trengo – Oporto Circus Fest

The Trengo – Oporto Circus Festival will take place between the 30th June and 8th July in several locations in Oporto. This is a free fest with several performances scheduled for typical spots, such as: Jardim Paulo Vallada, Quinta do Covelo or the Rivoli theatre. This event is sponsored by the Oporto City Council and features 16 performances, with 11 being national and the remaining 5 international.

The Oporto City Council decided to change location in order to accommodate more fans!!

There is a new treat for football fans that visit Oporto during the World Cup. If you want to watch the football matches in a giant screen with plenty of other football fans then you can do that in Cordoaria. There is a giant screen placed in Largo Amor de Perdição, just in front of the Portuguese Centre of Photography. All world cup matches are going to be broadcast live!! Just make sure you know when your national team is going to play …
